about
Isabella Timothy is a self-taught British artist, specialising in charcoal portraiture.
Isabella consistently returns to self-portraiture, and is fascinated by the contrast between self-perception and how one is perceived by others, and how inconsistent this can be.
Working predominantly with charcoal, Isabella aims to use this traditional medium in a bold and contemporary fashion to create striking, expressive and impactful portraits. Her work is starting to integrate new materials such as acrylic paints and marker pens, for an even bolder effect.
Isabella was awarded the Harry Walker Young Artists Prize by Bath Society of Arts in 2014.
She lives and works in South East London.
